Meeting together and reaching out in halls
At Bristol University Christian Union we aim to be a community of God's people who share the gospel with others. One way in which we do this is by gathering as the Christian Union within halls of residence. A hall CU would typically meet once a week in or near to halls, to equip and encourage one another to live and speak for Jesus in halls, by studying the Bible, praying and chatting together. Evangelistic 'Go-Week' events are also periodically organised and run in these hall CUs, as another means to share the gospel with friends in halls.
Main meeting: Equip
We Meet on a Thursday Evening in Alma Church from 6.00pm until about 7.30pm for Equip meeting.
This is our main weekly meeting helping us to practically equip Christian students with the skills and knowledge to live and speak for Jesus at University. We are students from different churches and denominations, uniting around the same gospel.
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Philippians 2:1-2
The CU is a mission team seeking to: 'To give everyone at Bristol University the opportunity to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus Christ.'
We are certainly not a church and cannot begin to offer some of the great things being part of a Church brings. We believe it is so important for all our members to be regularly attending a church for a number of reasons:
The CU is constantly changing and you will only be a member for a few years; churches have a long term vision forming a stable setting for your growth as a Christian at University.
The CU is run by students doing full time degrees; churches have full time staff willing and able to teach and offer you the support you will need.
The CU is exclusively for students whereas churches are formed of people from all ages and backgrounds allowing you to be a member of a truly diverse family.
The bible assumes that we will be in a local church (Hebrews 13:17)
If you would like to go along to church with another student then email our treasurer/ church links chair at firstname.lastname@example.org and they would be happy to arrange something for you.

B&A Church is situated just up the Gloucester Road next to the fabulous St Andrews Park. We are a family of missional communities called “little churches” with a central Sunday gathering for celebration, worship and teaching. Having encountered God’s love ourselves we believe HIS love, brought to us in Jesus, can change us and transform entire cities. This isn’t just about turning up for church on Sunday – it’s about being a movement of people beyond Sundays, building communities of love and putting church in touching distance of people’s lives. So we’re not about a building, event or a day – we are about family and connecting with others in an everyday, accessible way. Put simply, we are just an ordinary bunch of people trying to live life to the full, whilst learning to follow Jesus and make it the most important thing we do. We currently have one student little church in Redland. We’d love you to come and join us.
